Save and reopen your packing list without an account

Understand what the text and JSON downloads retain, and what happens when the browser tab closes.

The browser tab is not a backup

The list runs locally and is not automatically stored in cookies, browser storage or a cloud account. Closing or refreshing the page can lose unsaved changes. If you want to keep the record, save it before leaving.

The text download is a readable snapshot with checkmarks, locations, item names and quantities. It is useful for printing or viewing in a text editor. It is not the format used by the restore button.

Use JSON for a restorable copy

The JSON download includes the list name and each row’s checked status. The restore control reads that file on your device, validates the expected structure and recreates the list. It does not upload the file to a server.

Restoring a valid file replaces the current unsaved list. Save the current version first if you want to keep both. Invalid or oversized files are rejected without intentionally replacing the existing record. The tool accepts its own limited format, not arbitrary spreadsheets or other apps’ exports.

Name versions so they are understandable

Use your device’s file-management tools to distinguish a starting list from an end-of-trip copy. A date and a neutral trip label may be enough; avoid sensitive information if the file will be shared. Keep the location-code key with the record.

Restored checkmarks represent the saved state, not a fresh inspection. Review them before a new use rather than assuming last time’s confirmation still applies. Neither file format is a safety checklist, load calculation or permission to store the listed items in a particular compartment.
